Accomplishments
- World Series of Poker – The World Series of Poker Circuit Tour’s stop at the Grand Victoria Casino in downtown Elgin brings an entirely new audience to the Elgin area. Players travel to Elgin from throughout the Chicagoland and northwest Indiana area throughout the ten days of the tournament for a chance to qualify for the championship in Las Vegas.
- USA Team Handball – Throughout the years the Elgin area has hosted several USA Team Handball tournaments. Most recently the North American Caribbean Team Handball tournament took place at the Edward Schock Centre of Elgin. The tournament drew teams from Puerto Rico, Cuba, and Greenland to the Elgin area for about a week of competition.
- Niche but large professional sports organizations such as the American Cornhole League and Spikeball – The Elgin area has broadened its scope of sports tournaments by using traditional facilities to host untraditional sports. A standard indoor sports complex has been used to host the American Cornhole League numerous times and soccer fields have been used for regional spikeball tournaments. Being creative with how facilities are used helps draw professional leagues to the Elgin area and introduce the Elgin area to audiences that have never visited Elgin before.
